STEEL BIKES HANDMADE IN SPOKANE, WA

Dylan's NFE in the Gifford Pinchot NF

posted on August 20, 2014 by John

Our buddy (and Elephant website pro), Dylan, just finished a week of riding in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest… a perfect place for working out his new’ish Elephant National Forest Explorer (“NFE,” don’t cha know).

According to Dylan:

The bike did (pardon my french) f@#$ing amazing. It was seriously the perfect bike for that trip. I loved the handling with the front load, especially when slowly grinding up a steep climb, where I didn’t experience the wheel flop that I’ve felt with other front-loaded touring bikes with more trail. I didn’t have to concentrate on keeping the steering in line, leaving me to work on climbing some ridiculous grade instead. Also, those tires (those tires!!!) were great on the NF roads we were on: 95%dirt/gravel with lots of washboards and loose rocks. I was definitely the most confident of the 3 of us on most of the descents.

For the record: he’s riding the Schwalbe Thunder Burts.

You can see more of his photos here.
